Mosi oa Tunya ( Victoria falls)

Popularly known as Mosi-oa-tunya to the locals, The Victoria Falls are truly one of the seven wonders of the world. This water plunging water across the mighty Zambezi river that separate two countries, Zimbabwe and Zambia is breathtaking. I had the pleasure of visiting this unique resort recently and I truly enjoyed myself. I was breathless at the site of the sheet of falling water and as if that was not enough i was absolutely soaked by the rain that constantly falls along the falls creating a unique rain forest climate. Despite the the news peddled all over the world that it is an unsafe destination, I saw non of it. The hospitality was of high calibre and the people very friendly. OOH! I will post some photographs in the near future, it was amazing. Tell us of your experiences if you have been to this amazing resort.

I went there a few months back for the upteenth time. I cannot get enough of this place. It is absolutely amazing, out of this world. I Particularly liked the rain forest surrounding the waterfalls. I was soaked to the skin because i did not take a rain coat, I enjoyed that.

Although I have only visited Victoria Falls once in October 1999 I have visited Niagara Falls probably 20 times over.
There is simply no comparision - Victoria Falls is far more dramatic - especially from the air because of its length and height and the unique geography of the Zambesi. An added plus is the setting - unlike Niagara Falls which is surrounded by good sized cities on both sides of the border.

On Wednesday morning 12.03.08, at about 9am, Abramovich and a brigade of about 15 bodyguards arrived at the Victoria Falls entry point before he was taken on a tour by the Parks and Wild Life Management Authority rangers.

Abramovich visited the David Livingstone statue before going through to the Devils Cataract, the Main Falls and the Danger Point.

Abramovich’s visit is likely to shame gospel that Zimbabwe is not a safe tourist destination.

American singer Joe Thomas also visited the Victoria Falls during his tour.

The Victoria Falls remains one of the finest tourist attractions in the world and is likely to feature prominently among the sites to be visited by world cup 2010 supporters.
